Family Support Coordinator (Relief Pool)

Description:This individual is responsible for providing on-site, individual and family services and transportation to children, their families, foster families, and primary caregiver(s). Full time positions available.

Directions for Living has embarked upon implementing and imbedding Trauma Informed Care principles throughout our agency. Candidates should have knowledge and/or interest in assisting Directions for Living carry out this implementation.
Duties:This individual works as a team member with a case manager, foster parents, primary care giver, guardian ad litem and other appropriate professionals. The Family Specialist provides assistance, which is focused upon resolving issues of abuse and neglect by assisting with the acquisition of services related to issues such as substance abuse, adjustment and relationship issues, stress, daily living skills, budget training and employment assistance. These services are provided to the identified child, siblings, birth parents, relatives, foster parents and primary caregiver(s), as appropriate. Provides transportation of children as assigned.

Qualifications:•Associate’s degree in Human Services or equivalent with two years experience
in child welfare or any combination of relevant experience, knowledge, education and demonstrated skills which will enable satisfactory performance.
•Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to relate well to all types of people.
•Minimum data entry and typing speed of 50 correct wpm.
•Requires legible handwriting, accurate spelling, punctuation, grammar, and excellent proofreading skills.
•Requires excellent organizational and time management skills.
•Requires computer proficiency
•Knowledge of child welfare, early childhood or children’s mental health system preferred.
•Minimum of one year experience working with children and/or families within a need identified social welfare system.
•Requires clear driving record, maintenance of identified vehicle insurance limits and Vehicle inspection. Must have personal vehicle to transport children.
•Requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings, if needed.
