Adoptions Case Manager

|Description:||This is a professional case management position responsible for providing services to children and their families who are referred per the eligibility requirements identified by contract. Services are provided in the home setting, schools, day care or other settings in the community. Case Managers work with the birth families, foster caregivers, primary caregivers, guardian ad litems and other organizations and service providers functioning within the child welfare system. |
Directions for Living has embarked upon implementing and imbedding Trauma Informed Care principles throughout our agency. Candidates should have knowledge and/or interest in assisting Directions for Living carry out this implementation.
|Duties:||Work involves assessment, service planning, monitoring client progress, linking resources, coordination and advocacy on behalf of the client among other responsibilities. The Adoptions Case Management function addresses: providing permanent, caring relationships to children who are, or are expected to be, legally free for adoption and whose birth parents are unwilling or are unable to appropriately care for them. This is a coordinated set of services for the child and the adoptive applicants/parents.|
|Qualifications:||•Must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree Social Work or related area of study from an accredited university; or a Master’s Degree in Social Work or related area of study.|
•Certification as a Dependency Case Manager preferred.
•Must possess strong oral and writing skills that enable clear, concise verbal and written communication.
•Must be highly motivated and self-directed.
•Must be detail oriented and have advanced organizational skills. Time management skills are essential to this position.
•Experience with child welfare, early childhood education or children’s mental health preferred.
•Knowledge of child development, including physical, mental, emotional and cultural issues preferred.
•Must be computer literate and be proficient in Outlook, Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft Word. Must be able to work proficiently in a Windows environment and be able to learn other software applications quickly.
•Must have reliable transportation and be able to use personal vehicle to transport clients. Must have and maintain clear driving record, must have
valid Florida Driver License, maintain required automobile insurance coverage and pass the annual vehicle inspection.
•Must have flexible schedule and be able to be on-call as assigned.
